Hi my loves! So I know this is a very controversial topic.. so let me just explain WHY this DIY is awesome and why it wont change the ENTIRE colour of your skin, but rather lighten up any dark patches and uneven skin.
Rice flour has been a beauty secret of the Geishas (known for their porcelain skin among other things) for many years!
Rice flour has been used in many Japanese skincare brands (tatcha etc) because it is high in powerful antioxidants that boost skins collagen production, as well as act as a sunscreen.
So this will NOT lighten your skin to a whole new shade, this is NOT skin bleaching, nor do I recommend skin bleaching, nor do I think that having fair skin is the only way to be beautiful! NOPE! I know as brown skinned women, we have been told for MANY years that the more fair you are, the more beautiful you are, and that is JUST NOT THE CASE!
It makes me sad to know that even though we are in the year 2015, I still get comments like "you would be prettier if you were more fair skinned" or other young girls get comments like "youll never find a husband because youre so dark" and its very common in places like india/pakistan etc to lighten up your skin for more opportunity in the job market or even in relationships and we need to stand against that and be confident and comfortable in the skin that we are in.. because guess what..
ALLL SKIN COLOURS are absolutely beautiful! By me posting this DIY I AM NOT in ANY WAY saying that you NEED to lighten your skin, I am posting this DIY because it has been requested and it has been something that I have been using to brighten up the burns that were left on my face from a product that just wasnt meant for my skin.
This is for those of you who are suffering from acne dark spots, from burn marks, from sun spots or uneven tan, to lighten that up to your original skin tone and even brighten up your skin because that is what rice flour does.
When you exfoliate, you reveal new skin that has not seen sun or has been damaged from certain products, so it will be lighter/brighter. This has really helped a lot to lighten my burn marks and I couldnt be happier with the results :)
I did this every other day to achieve quicker results, but you could also do this once a week or twice a week depending on your skin. After this has fully dried on ur skin use lukewarm water to exfoliate it off and apple your favourite toner, facial oil or moisturizer!
